I picked up the book hoping to find out what happened, and over the next few months kept picking it up and putting it back down, because it is nothing like the show at all, there are no mysteries, there are no shadow organizations, a weird event happens at the start and the rest of the book is pretty much futruo the world’s reaction to the event and what happened to a few individuals as a result.

Sawyer’s first published book, Golden Fleeceis an adaptation of flaehforward stories that had previously appeared in the science-fiction magazine Amazing Stories. Robert Sawyer grew up in Toronto, the son of two university professors.

The book’s concept–a glimpse into your future and whether that glimpse would, or even could, affect your fate–is heady stuff. This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. In science fiction, especially, you can get away with preposterous scenarios and also ridiculous dialogue, as long as the characters and writing are decent; this was not the case with this book. The characters were flat and cliche for the most part, the writing amateurish, and it read like the plot of the kind of big budget summer blockbuster movie that you go see just to escape the heat and turn your br An interesting concept but a pretty silly book.

The characters are undeveloped and the plot is simple and immature. The adaptation is better than the original Yes, seeing yourself making love to a woman 20 years your senior might be shocking, but to belabor over and over that she’s a “crone” and dwelling on her saggy breasts is really telling.
