While I enjoyed reading Sei’s story, I felt the translation by Meredith McKinney was much more accessible while also being truer to the feel, shonzgon, and imagery Sei wished to convey.

Trivia About The Pillow Book. I’m inclined to rate the content 4 stars actually. The explanations were helpful, but the inconsistent way in which things were explained some amohada footnotes, some directly slipped between the paragraphs can be confusing.
